A beautiful October wedding!
I headed out of the city and drove to Glenboro for Jaymie & Wesley’s wedding a few weeks ago. I had never met these two prior to the wedding day and I have to say that Jaymie and Wesley are both incredibly kind and wonderful people. I enjoyed my time with them and it was nice to shoot in the country on such a beautiful fall day. I admit that it was a bit windy but the light was incredible!

Tabitha & Kevin {ENGAGED}

Ahhhhhh…young love! Set to marry in a matter of days Tabitha and Kevin met up with me at Grant’s Old Mill for their shoot just last week! It was my first time meeting Kevin as he was not able to be at our consultation and the first time seeing the two of them together! They made my job easy with their incredible chemistry and sense of playfulness! I am looking forward to working with them again at the wedding! A quick ceremony at a local park, tons of time for photos, and a backyard reception! Just my cup of tea!!!

Krista & Bob {engaged}

Isn’t is great when two amazing people find each other and you can just tell they are meant to be? Krista and Bob are such sweethearts! They are a perfect fit! I am lucky enough to be photographing their wedding this coming weekend! For their engagement shoot they were troopers (it was about 35 degrees outside!). We went driving in the country and found some lovely spots. I incorporated some Jesh de Rox “Beloved” into the shoot and I think the results are some beautiful images full of emotion.

I can’t wait for Sunday!

Kim & Monte {MARRIED!}

I don’t think the sky could have been any bluer for Kim and Monte’s wedding day! With barely a cloud in the sky, these two had their first glance at the BDI bridge. From there we had a few stops: the legislature, the exchange, and then our to one of my MOST FAVORITE places EVER! Pine Ridge Hollow. A beautiful outdoor ceremony and a reception decorated exquisitely by Glamorous Occasions made this day ever so memorable…not to mention a photographer’s dream!

Richelle & Freddy {ENGAGED}

These two are the second couple this season to be tying the knot FINALLY after more than 15 years! Richelle and Freddy have been together for 17 years and have two gorgeous children who both came along on our shoot! They are a totally hot and stylish couple and even despite a late start, we made the best of the time we had and ended up with some fantastic shots of the entire family!!!

Congratulations! I can’t wait until your big day!!! ONE MORE WEEK!!!

Ainsley + Chris {engaged}

Ainsley and Chris are a softspoken, shy, easygoing, couple that you can’t help but want to be around. They radiate goodness and warmth, so how perfectly appropriate that the sun blessed us with such amazing light during their engagement shoot! During the shoot we talked about our hopes and dreams…and discovered that we have quite a few things in common. The two most prevalent being a love for the outdoors and for animals! I really have never met two sweeter people! Their relationship embodies this kind nature, and whenever they look at one another its almost as though the entire world disappears. There were moments when I was completely in awe of their connection.

Vanessa + Travis ~ Engaged!

Vanessa and Travis are like the popular, good-looking, successful kids from High School who would stick up for the underdog because it was the “right” thing to do. They are impossibly sweet and humble and of course…totally in love. Neither of them know just how gorgeous they are…they are so down to earth. Vanessa and her ten mile long legs and “girl next door” sexiness, and Travis with his boyish charm and pouty lips…they claim to be hard to photograph…I beg to differ. Despite some adorable awkwardness while we got warmed up, these two made my job easy and were an absolute pleasure to spend time with!

These are the Moments

As a mother, there is no greater joy than my children. There are moments that I feel as though time is slipping away from me, and I want to remember every tiny detail…their smell, voices, smiles, laughter, expressions, voices….the list is neverending. Mylene and I went to the same High School. Our children are the same age…and Mylene takes wonderful photos of her family, but is always behind the camera, as I am! I did photos for her a couple of years ago with her son, and she asked me to come back again to take some photos of her six month old daughter! It was one of those days when it didn’t seem as though we were going to get the magical photos we wanted. The heat and humidity were almost unbearable…and working with a six month old and a three year old is challenging on the best of days! After a walk through the forest that ended with both kids in tears, we retreated to the air conditioned house. We considered our options, and then Mylene and I snuck away from the boys with Baby K and went up to the master bedroom. FINALLY!!! Baby K was all giggles and smiles once she had her Mom all to herself. After snapping a few images, I showed them to Mylene. The emotions were overwhelming. Mylene teared up and said to me “I have everything I ever wanted now”. I knew exactly what she meant, and I teared up too. Photographs. The ability to freeze time, to capture a feeling….so that in the years to come we can look at the image before us and recall…their smell, voices, smiles, laughter, expressions, voices. The look in their eyes as we feed them, how they wrap their tiny fingers around your own.

Thank you so much Mylene for sharing that moment with me. You have renewed my desire to continue to tell peoples’ stories through my photography, and also reminded me to savor each and every moment we spend with those we love.

Amber + Danny MARRIED!

What do you get when you have a country tent wedding and a tornado warning?!? Well…you get a lot of very happy people when everything turns out BEAUTIFULLY!!! Amber and Danny travelled from Calgary to tie the knot in their hometown. I was a little nervous pulling into the driveway to meet my bride for the very first time…the weather was treacherous…no visibility and hail!!! But I was delightfully surprised to see that Amber wasn’t letting anything get her down on her special day. A positive attitude always pays off and by the time we were ready for the first look…the sun was shining, the clouds created a dramatic backdrop, and the countryside was lush and vibrant.

Congratulations to you both and thank you so much for the laughs. It was a joy to share in your happiness!
